The “Crazy Room”
Innovation space
Students needed a place to think.
And, after a multi-million dollar building renovation, we had a small, unused room.
I procured a few gallons of paint, some shower boards for whiteboards, several kindergarten floor cushions, some party lights, and a smattering of inexpensive furniture.
In my spare time, I transformed the room into a brainstorming and innovation space.
Students quickly (and unofficially) christened it “the crazy room.” And the name stuck.
It became one of the most popular spaces in the building and on campus.
Because students and faculty were competing for its use, an unexpected outcome was the need for a reservation system to book the room.
